headphone socket on dvd rom?

the headphone socket on my dvd rom drive does not work any one know why :?: :?: everything is wired up fine and i have tried it on analogue and digital it just wont work???am i missing a setting somewhere i have been around the sound settings etc but cant seem too get it going ne help greatly appreciated

What is the Brand/Model of your DVD drive? Also, what O.S.?

sorry forgot you might need that info its a freecom internal dvd+rw/+r only number i can find on the box is article no.20415.
running win xp sp1.and the sound card is a philips psc 604 dynamic edge 4.1 hooked up to a set of creative 4.1 speakers.cheers :wink:

i have tried listening to everything dvd, cd, games ,system sounds :( :( and not a peep. the drive is connected to the sound card to the cd in slot(analogue cable)bizarre
