HiGrade Hard drive faulty

hi there hope someone can help i have a HiGrade C5515 notino laptop which is approx 5-6 years old when i power on the fan runs and some of the lights light up, but does not read the hard drive for some reason, i think the hard drive has died
whats the most cost efficient way to get this up and running again, can i just buy another hard drive and get windows xp reinstalled, any advice would be much appreciated

If you can manage to find a drive that works with your laptop, then yes that may be the fastest route. You may need some third party software to retrieve anything you want off of the dead drive (if there is anything you want).

Go into the bios and check the date. If the date is wrong, you might just have a dead cmos battery, that would prevent the system from seeing the hard drive

hi guys latest update is i have bought a new hard drive still nothing, ice cube i cant get into bios as when i turn laptop on screen remains blank and all i get is fan running and a few lights on the display light up any ideas guys??

Hi Philip

Try reseating the sticks of memory. If you have two installed, leave one out and see if it boots up. If it doesn't boot, swap the memory and try again.
