problem with modem

I backup all my work but the drivers from winme dont work in xp pro because i've tried them. I've had so much trouble with this computer in winME, but when i put xp pro on alot of the problems stopped. I still have problems with my graphics card but i dont care about that. its just the modem that bothers me. I ve been looking on that ebay site and modems are going for $10AUD. i'll just get a cheap one i guess, heaps easier. thanks for all your help guy and/or girls.
