Well I took the DVD rom and took it back to the supplier....
He'll send it back to the MFG on Monday.
If its the Rom they'll replace it.
In the mean time both pc's were left on while I went and did this and neither of them froze.
I'd say its the DVD rom...
I'll post when I find out.

Got the DVD Rom back today...they shipped a new one,the LG GDR8162B.
Working great!
The screen problem was fixed with the new GeForce 440(supplier replaced it)64mb DDR...nice card.
While the case was off I installed a BioStar 6-in-1 Card Reader....very easy to install....everythings working fine.
