I had an older compaq notebook here, that didnt work(video went out) that i've been hanging on to for quite a while now.Recently my brother called me needing a notebook HDD.I pulled the drive from the compaq (toshiba drive) and broke out the adaptor.I sucessfully slaved it to my desktop and removed some needed files, then sent him the drive. He gets it,throws it in his older dell notebook and now were both stuck.Toshiba was so kind as to include a pretty tough password on the drive.Im sure this is great for theft protection but how on earth can the average user get the password?I've found a company online wanting to charge a rediculous rate to unlock it but i feel there has to be another way.Does anyone know if there were a set of default passwords for toshiba drives? Is there any options at all?
