:rox: Hello to all. I have just had a PC built for me.
It is as follows:
Intel P4 2.66GHZ 533MHZ FSB 512K Processor

ü Intel D865G Series 865 P4 (800FSB) DDR400, AGP8X Mainboard

ü 512MB DDR PC3200 RAM

ü ATI RADEON 9200SE AGP 8X, 128MB, DVI, TV-OUT Graphics

ü Samsung 16X DVD + POWER DVD S/W

ü Samsung 52X24X52 8MB CDRW with NERO S/W

ü Samsung 40GB 2MB ATA/100 7200RPM HDD

ü Panasonic 1.44Mb Floppy Drive

ü Ritmo 313N-06 Grey/Ivory 450W PSU, 2 x Front USB & 2nd
Fan

I was going to attempt to build my own, but opted against it.
I wanted the PC mainly for gaming, but as cheap as possible.
I was happy enough with the price, and now it is mine.

I have installed Windows XP, a few other programs and the game "Call of Duty". (Awesome game!)
All of this using just over 4GB of hdd.

After a couple of days, my new PC begun to slow down. After booting into Windows, i had to wait about 2 mins before i could use any programs properly, or any sound. Also, i believed that the PC was quite slow to open programs and sometimes to respond. Slower than my previous 1.1ghz PC. I wanted to just wipe clean, and format the drive and start again but this was not as easy as i thought. So i just did a repair XP installation instead. (Any quick tips on how i would wipe clean and start again would be great.) After the repair installation, shutting down and booting up became good, and i was satisfied. Although, i still believe it to be slow to respond.

I installed Red Alert2, to check game loading speed against other computers over the net. I have a friend with an old P3 733mhz computer, and mine loaded the RA2 game only slightly faster. My old 1.1ghz PC used to easily beat his.

How could i check to see if the processor is doing what it is suppose to? Or is there any advice anybody can give me?
Thankyou kindly in advance, and a great site you have here.
Sorry to dribble on.
:P

try running spyware programs and try a little program called CWShedder.Once you have done all the scans try running RegVac to clean out the registry. Daniel
