Im not very familiar with VIZIO products or their warranties but i so know Asus stands behind their product with no questions asked. There warranty service is great. View sonic has been around a long time, one of the best monitors ive ever owned was a 17" crt view sonic. Its probably the way i would lean myself, considering it has the features you were interested in. Converters tend to screw with the signal and wind up adding noise to the image, or has been the case with tv. I say if you can get all the proper connections on one unit, do so and you wont lose any image quality through adapters.
Vizio may be great but ive never owned anything by them myself so it would be unfair for me to comment either way.

Yea, the Viewsonic's definitely the top choice of the ones I've come across. Great reviews (and a good video review to boot), all the specs are perfect (except *maybe* contrast ratio? Dunno much about those), and it's a good price. Only thing holding me back, again, is the video input issue. I mean, I could always just give up on that and keep using my CRT TV for the Wii, but it sure would be nice to have everything on one screen (one that takes up little space at that).
As far as converters/adapters... signal quality is something to keep in mind, but I'd still like to know how the things are supposed to work. Just not sure how the audio gets transferred along with the video...
