CPU Upgrade help

Postby darksaru » Tue Aug 24, 2010 6:35 am

Hello everyone, I hope you can help me on this.

I'm thinking of upgrading my motherboard, so obviously I'll need a new CPU, since the new board doesn't support my old one.

I searched the net for hours and hours to look for the best suited option for me, I asked a couple of friends as well.

I'm confused between an Intel core i5-661 3.33 GHz / core i7 930 / AMD Phenom II X6 1090T

My friends recommended AMD, but I had some bad experiences with AMD before, so I'm not quite sure about it. All this is really confusing me ><

Oh and if you must know, it's for a gaming PC.

I'd appreciate your help :)

Get the intel i5 2500k, it's the PERFECT sweet spot bang/buck processor right now. It's the same price as the i5661 you listed but has more cache and you can overclock to 4.8 GHZ with a click of the mouse. If you have a Radeon GPU then you can get AMD if you want, but i would suggest the intel, because i also had some problems with my last AMD CPU.
