Problem with MBR - Error reading sector

Postby spartacus » Fri Mar 12, 2004 3:54 am

Hi

My query concerns the MBR sector of my hard drive.
I am using NOD32 virus scanning software on a Windows 2000 environment and each time i run a scan on my hard disk i get an error which reads;

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scanning Log
NOD32 version 1.662 (2) NT
Checking CRC of the NOD32.EXE file: status OK
Operating Memory is OK

Error occurred while scanning MBR sector of the 2. physical disk. Error reading sector.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how i might go about fixing it ?

My system is a month old and I run win2k pro on an athlon xp2600, ga-7va mainboard, ATi Radeon 9200 128mg graphics card running two monitors and sblaster live platinum 5.1 soundcard.

I also have a couple of buggy problems which may or may not be symptomatic of the problem - Sometimes when i return to desktop from an app window, my task bar disappears until i double click on a desktop item - dont know why this is.

please point me in the right direction,

Best Regards
