I am @ work and I just got quoted to do another PC, Just a box for under 1000$ is all that is needed...
I will get on this after work, I am just curious of what you guys would think!

Excel, Internet, (Bussiness Apps), and he would like to play lower lvl games... not new ones, some classics... so a decent 3d card

In that case I reckon I'd start off with something like this:
Athlon XP
nforce2 chipset perhaps? Or maybe a KT400A
256-512Mb DDR RAM - either 333 or 400MHz
Geforce 4 4200, or radeon 9100
~80gig hard drive.
17" monitor
CDRW
DVDROM
How does that sound?
