Problem #1. Memory malfunction?

I booted one of these computers that my cousin gave me and it said something is wrong with the memory before booting to windows.

I see 4 cards in the memory slot. Would just one of them cause this error or are all the memory cards bad?

I can't get to the windows screen at all.

The comptuer is a dell powerdge 600sc. I found a replacement memory card if that is the problem located at http://www.kahlon.com/searchmodel.asp?o ... &ovtac=CMP

ok, best thing to do here is strip all the memory but 1. Attempt to boot with one and if it post a problem, swap sticks. Obviously repeat the process for each of the 4 sticks and see if it pinpoints a certain stick. If its indeed a memory problem, its not likely its all 4 gone bad.

Would one bad stick keep the computer from working? I know when I've installed new sticks before, that if it's not in all the way that it won't show up in the system info. But I would do what jim said as that will make it clear if they're working. Also try installing one stick into each slot as it could be the slot that is bad and not the stick.
