I am also having problems with a new dell optiplex gx260 my cousin gave me. It beeps 5 times upon loading and never displays anything on the monitor. Any idea's what needs to be done with this?

edit: My 3rd computer also is a dell optiplex gx260 and beeps 6 times. I also need to know how to fix this.

One of the great things about Dell PCs is that they have diagnostic lights on them too...somewhere there will be 4 lights labeled ABCD (most times near the power switch or on the rear of the unit near the USB ports) and those codes can point ot better information on what is failing.

Dude it's the memory. Re-seat them, and if it continues, try changing them or replace with one you know is good before you buy more. Most times with these Dells, it is the memory. 65% of the time, re-seating the memory sticks will help. I would use a can of air to blow out the slots before re-seating them though just to be sure no dust that may have fallen in after removal stays in there.
