Ok, Here are my specs, windows xp home sp3, home built computer out of spare computer parts in a systemax tower and motherboard from systemax. 120gb hd, 1.6 ghz pentium 4 cpu, 2x256 ram = 490 mb, SiS661FX/GX Mirage Graphics, dvd rom, cd rw, multimedia card reader, and thats about all i can think about now.

Now for the problem,

I built this computer myself about a year ago, when i first built the computer it worked pretty fast and smooth. about a month ago the computer pretty much went to a dead halt. when you try to open ie or google crome it takes forever if it even loads and after a little bit of use you cant even get task manager or anything to open. i have done multiple virus scans with malwarebytes, super antispyware, and spybot s&d cleaned out all they found and they dont find anything now but problem still continues. I have ran chkdsk /f chkdsk/r and still no help. I am running out of ideas of why this computer is all of a sudden going extremely slow. please give me some ideas to what could be wrong here. Sounds like you might have a trojan.

Download and install: . Now Run it and post a copy of the Log File in a new thread in the Hijackthis forum.

Create a new thread in the Hijackthis forum and we can take a look at it.

ok, i did a hijackthis and posted in the hijackthis support forum and titled it as computer running real slow (hijack this report) please let me know what you find. Thanks

is that the 120gb HDD a IDE drive?
Check the IDE in the device manager and make sure it is not PIO mode.
also check the HDD controller onboard.

reset the Bios may help.
