Just curious,

Why do you think it's the battery causing the problem? Did you test the Power supply with a Multi-Meter?

There isn't a whole lot on ebay right now for your specific model, but there is an AC adapter, and a bunch of people selling ram (searched for satellite 6070 + included descriptions)

Well, Brad, thanks for the specs, but I found those already, its manufacturer info about problems and fixes i was looking for, and could not find on the toshiba site, not even the model number. So i hoped you guys found something more.
As for teststrips, yes, i measured the output of the PS; but that does not tell me much.
Any how, here's the symptoms :
put in the AC adaptor : light = orange when battery is in, green if battery is out. Push the pwr-on switch : light flickers, nothing happens in the laptop, even if the battery is in or out.
That's it

Leave it plugged in for 24 hrs. with the battery in. It sounds like the cmos battery is dead. (The manual states this.)

my toshiba satellite laptop (which is older than yours, only a 233mhz machine) will only boot if i have a battery in it. It did not like being unplugged at all.

I actually have 2 batteries for mine... if you suspect the batt I'd suggest at least trying it... if it just happens to be the same battery though, I'll send you my extra one for shipping. Get me a model number and I'll dig it out of the closet later tonight.

oh, that might present a problem... international mail is expensive, and they might not like batteries which are toxic being shipped across seas
