After all the research on quality parts i did on toms hardware and epinions, I reccently bought all the components to assemble a cosutmized pc. I had posted on here previously whether an Amd 1.3Ghz processor would work with a Soyo SY-K7VTA Pro Mobo and got a reply it would. Well, I might not have informed on the message that it was a Duron processor. I installed all the parts and powered on and the processor would not work. It is a known working processor also. Can anyone here confirm to me whether the issue here is an incompatible processor?

The guidebook says under key features:
supports socket a amd processor
supports 200Mhz front side bus ddr transfer on
althlon ( 750Mhz-1.3Ghz)
Duron (600Mhz-950Mhz)
supports 266Mhz fsb ddr transfer on athlon(1Ghz-1.6Ghz)
Initially this made me beleive that this the processor is incompatible. Again were talking about a duron 1.3Ghz.
I also need to verify the ram i have which is a via. This feature info is referring to the fbs though correct? or is the compatilbe processors

I power up the computer. Hear the power supply run. Beyond that absolutely nothing happens. I have no Post. No Cmos screen. Nothing.
The Ram i am using is a NEC 128MB 16M*64 PC 133/100 168Pin Sdram. There is no onboard video also. I am using a Radeon AGP card. I dont know exactly what kind off the top of head but I figure this shouldnt be an issue with compatibilty.

Its possible you got a bad stick of RAM. No beep at boot would make me think it was the memory. Do you have another stick that you know is good to try? Thats what I would do

It turned out to be a defective motherboard and a defective RAM chip. Both bought online. I'm going to have to watch who I buy from for now on.

Buying from a repitable supplier is a must but you can always get a faulty piece of hardware from the best known supplier. Buying from the best doesnt always mean your gonna get the best, purchasing on-line is always a gamble.
