Problems w/ Wireless Router

I recently purchased a NETGEAR Model MR814 Cable/DSL Wireless Router which is connected to Computer #1. The router came in a package with a NETGEAR MA101 Wireless USB Adapter which is connected to Computer #2. I use Computer #2 to play games like Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat, Other Half-Life MODS, BF1942, and WarCraft3 and I experience a lot of lag. I think it is a problem with the Wireless Router/USB Adapter. Heres an example: when I play Counter-Strike about every 1-3 minutes I freeze for 5-10 seconds and my ping spikes. This is a problem when I am trying to play scrims/matches as you may know. I was just wondering if anyone could give me any help with fixing this lag issue. I appreciate any help. Thnx!

Yes, I was thinking of just buying a router and having a wired connection instead of wireless, do you think this would fix the problem? I have heard that wired routers are usually much better than wireless ones...

A wired router will give you better speeds throughout than a wireless one - however the spikes of lagginess you're seeing seem to be different to a generalised slowness. I was just wondering if it was possible to try the wired port as a troubleshooting step, since you have the port that the other comp is wired to :)
