Help all my windows sounds have fallen quiet, but the PC still plays mp3 files, can anyone suggest any remedies :?:

Check--- Start: Control Panel: Sounds and Audio Devices: Sounds tab: Sound Scheme field = No Sounds.

Make sure that it doesn't say NO SOUND

Double click the volume control and make sure nothing's muted or turned all the way down.

thanks for helping, i have tried that and all looks as it should, i have tried playing the various sounds in the control panel option too and they come out of the speakers fine, its just not when i do an action like empty recycle bin or close down windows etc etc..........anymore suggestions would be much appreciated :?:

If you go to Start>Settings>Control Panel>Sounds and double click Audio Devices then click Sounds tab you can assign different sounds to your program events.

Go to: and click on the "S".
Then scroll down to "Sounds". The are several suggestions and Fixes.
