How do I hook up S-Video out to a TV?

Hello,
I want to hook my computer up to a 19'' TV using the S-Video out of my GeForce 3 Ti 500. The TV does not have S-Video in, so I purchased an RCA RF modulator. The RF Mod will light up when its receiving a signal from the S-Video. At first, it would show my the initial boot up of the computer, right up until it gave the blue welcome to windows XP screen. Then nothing. The light turns off, meaning the RD mod is no longer getting a signal from the computer. I fiddled around with the NVidia display options, and now the blasted thing won't even show my the boot up sequence on the TV. I think I checked something about "my TV is not being detected". It told me to restart. I did. And now it shows nothing. No light too.

Suggestions? :\ All I want is to build my home arcade and this is just a bump along the road to arcade happiness. :) Thanks!

the rf modulator that you baught may have not been able to handle the higher resolution in windows.. generally you need to run at 800x600 with a low refresh rate. You may have burnt out/overheated your rf modulator if it didn't have circuitry protection.

here are some instructions from a company that makes a svideo to rca cable adapter.

also lots of info here - inluding pinouts to make your own if you really wanted to... although buying the ends would probably be just as expensive as the whole cable

I unfortunately don't have an nvidia video card with tv-out capabilties to play with. On my ATI all in wonder card, i have to enable the TV out port in order for it to send a signal to my TV. If I ONLY have the TV plugged in, with no monitor it is smart enough to use the TV as a monitor, but I always keep my main screen hooked up b/c I use my PC as a computer more than I use it as a DVD/file player for my TV.

I enable TV-out on my ATI card by - opening the DISPLAY control pannel - hitting the SETTINGS tab - hitting the ADVANCED button - and ATI has an added tab called DISPLAYS. Hopefully nvidia will have a similar option.

You could also try a program called UltraMon which might help you find similar settings.
