Help needed please :)

Hey guys,

Im having some PC problems....when i boot up my pc everyhting is fine....until i should get to my desktop. I get a black screen...i know windows and my desktop is running becuase i can hear my modem dialing up (its set to automatic dialing)

My specs:
1.2 ghz Duron
256 RAM
Geforce 2
Windows XP

Could it be a graphics card problem?

Any help would be appreciated!

I think it's your refresh rate. Boot into safe mode, set it to a lower setting and reboot normally.

And please don't post subject lines like "Help needed please". It's too vague and most people will ignore it.

Do you have video in safe mode?
To start you computer in safe mode restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard.
When the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, select Safe Mode and then press ENTER
It will take much longer to boot into safe mode than a normal boot.
If you have video in safe then it must be the video drivers.
In safe mode the default Microsoft VGA driver is used for display, and not the video drivers for your video card.
If it is the drivers then you might need to uninstall and reinstall them this can be done in safe mode.
You could also check for updated drivers for your Geforce 2
