Pentium vs. Celeron

Hi, I have a simple question.
What is the difference between Celeron and Pentium prossesors. Many of my friends say that Pentium is better but I tell them it's just the speed of the prossesor that matters.
I'd appreciate it if someone whould clear my head in this issue.
Thank You.

Celerons are cheaper because they have a much smaller on-chip high speed memory cache wich is very costly

The main differences between Celerons and Pentiums are in the areas of bus speed and L2 cache features.
You will find that, for most applications, Celerons rated at the same MHz will equal or better an equivalent Pentium-II, for a much lower price.
Don't no one like the AMD???

The celerons are just a cut down or crippled version of the equivalent Pentium chips.. and I think GG got them the wrong way round.. the Pentium class processor will outperform it's equivalent Celeron counterpart..

and to answer your question GG.. yes.. I would choose AMD over Intel silicon every single time.. the only Intel manufactured chip I even own is in my current laptop.. every other machine has and AMD processor.. and that includes the spare motherboard I have upstairs with an AMD T-bird 1.2 chip sat on it collecting dust.. :)

If i HAD to buy a intel chip,it would be pentium, celeron's are not very good chips but i run AMD in my machines.

I'm glad to see others like using the AMD Processor :)
That's what I am running in all my machines....

.....and I was merely saying, using most applications you won't see a huge difference if any between a Celeron and a Pentium at the same MHz....got something to say about that Kestrel
