Another RAM upgrade question

I have an ECS K7S5A motherboard. It is supposed to be able to hold 1GB of DDR RAM at 266mhz (currently have 256 SDRAM)

I bought 512MB DDR RAM at 266mhz (PC2100). When it arrived the company had "upgraded" my RAM to PC2700 which runs at 333mhz.
They tell me they are Micron memory sticks and are 100% compatiblebut i never trust the vendor fully ;)

Am I going to have problems now or down the road with this RAM setup? Is there potential down side to installing this RAM?

I really do not want to have any headaches, crashes or other problems as my computer is running, clean of all adware, malware and other "junk". All i wanted was a bit more speed...

Thanks for the help.

Hey Msiler
You can not use SDRAM and DDR RAM at the same time. And it does not support DDR 333MHz.

pc2700 ram will be able to be underclocked to pc2100 speeds with no problems. Actually you could buy 3200 or even 3500 ram, but since it would only ever run at 2100, there isn't much of a point... that is unless you plan on upgrading your pc and moving your ram to another motherboard in the near future.

I don't think you'll have any compatiblilty problems... if it works now, it should continue to work.

Do I need to do anything to underclock the RAM or will it automatically detect and default to 266mhz?

I plan to pull the SDRAM and only use the DDR.

Thanks for the help.
