have a problem!

I have a Phillips PCRW5232P(Mastered) and a Pioneer DVR107D (Slaved to the HDD) installed on and Abit KR7ARaid Mobo with XP Pro SP2.

The CDRW is not being recognised, strange indeed. It's recognised in BIOS and Device Manager but when I put a game disc in it and start a game it asks for the disc to be inserted. Now both are recognised in Nero and I can burn to the DVDR in Nero and DVDShrink fine, but I cannot select the CDRW in Nero, it does not register even though it is there as a mounted drive, they both used to work before! I have checked all the cables and computer management says that both are there but when a disc is in the CDRW it says "No Media" its as if the CDRW is there but it is not seeing anything inside it/accessing it.

Weird one, sorry if I am being Dumb  , Help Me.

Have you tried Uninstalling it in device manager, rebooting and letting it reinstall?

Yeah just this minute done that. Called a mate he suggested it. It has not worked either. I have just tried Nero again and selected the Drive and and ejects the tray (with a blank disc in there) and prompts me to insert a disc, like I said, the drive seems fine but it does not seem to be registering/reading anything in it?!?!? Spooky

Probably something simple!

Make sure you have the most up-to-date drivers for that device from the MFG'er.

If your capable of removing the case you could switch the drives
around or put them both on the same chain...E.G..Philips on IDE2 as MASTER and the Pioneer on the same IDE2 cable as SLAVE.
See if that fixes the prob...

There is a few different set-ups you could try but
there's work involved... :)

You could try checking your chipset drivers, and your event log to se if there is anything listed in there. Otherwise you are looking at checking hardware - either the cable or the drive itself. Do you have a spare machine you could try the drive in? There's always the possibility that it is just broken :(

I will try it in on my housemates machine tomorrow and see what happens.

Funny thing is I CANNOT find drivers anywhere for this device, even on the Phillips Website, Pants I'd say, looked on driver.com and Firmware Page none there either! I cant believe there are none about for such a topline/new CDRW.

I'll keep ya posted!

You have not mentiioned if you have tried running the game from both drives. If the game was installed from the Pioneer it won't run from the Phillips as the registry will be looking to run the game from the same drive that it was installed from. Drivers are not required for CD/DVD devices and therefore not provided by the manufacture they may however provided firmware upgrades but caution must be taken as if these are installed incorrectly they can ruin the drive.
