I would have to disagree with both of the current replies - I don't think there's a blind bit of difference between the current crop of intel & AMD processors. Some benchmarks will show a 3.2P4 to have slightly better performance than a 3200 Athlon64 but it's not enough to see any difference in the real world. For that reason I would base my decision on the other specs of the machines - in this repspect they are pretty much identical apart from the hard drive, which is bigger in the AMD. Based on the fact that video editing generates some HUGE files, I would have to say go with the AMD.

If you're serious about gaming you may also want to look at the newer generation of graphics cards, depending on how futureproof you want the machine to be :)

thanks guys, thank you for your reply restek, i myself struggled to find difference with performance.

the bigger hard drive would help as well.

as Im not really serious about gaming I think the graphics card isnt too important, although the computer has to do me over the next 3 years.

so I think I will go with the AMD, and top up the ram at a later date.

cheers, ill let y'all know how she runs!
