Heat

Postby Tank » Tue Nov 16, 2004 5:27 am

Hi everyone. I will be running a MSI Nvidia GeForce 6800GT 256MB DDR3 Video Card in my new Gaming Machine. I have just finished reading another review, and I am concerned about the amount of heat this card will give off to my other components inside my case. I have one intake fan on the left side of my case, and 2 exhaust on the back of my case. There is a huge fan on the Video Card. My CPU has the CoolerMaster Jet 7+ Fan, and my PSU is Dual Fan. Is this enough to cool everything down or do I need to worry?? Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Personally I think so. I have the 6800, just not the 256 version. I have a fan in the fron and and exhaust in the back. It runs fine. It runs around 70C, max it can go is 135C. The nVidia drivers have a temperatur monitor in it that will help you keep track. If you feel it is exceeding the temperature, install some more fans. Your other choices are very expensive cooling systems.

I think you should be fine too.Just remember to keep your insides clean, blow out the fans and something that gets overlooked alot is the cpu heatsink fins.Make sure you blow them out regulary.Another tip is to hold the fan blades still so you dont overspin them and ruin the bearings.
