Hey everyone. Can someone please tell me what Dual Layer is? I am looking at a Pioneer DVD-RW, 16X, that is dual layer, I just want to know what the heck it means and what it does lol? Thanks!

Conventional recordable DVD media stores data on a single 4.7GB plane (level) of the disc. On dual-layer DVD media, there are two recordable 'layers' which can both store up to 8.5GB of data.

If I buy the Dual Layer drive, can I still burn just the way it normally does, like 4.7GB, just on the normal one layer discs??

Well if this is the one you were looking at http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/spec ... PIO-108OEM
then yes, you can burn regularly. I hear the Dual CD's are very expensive, if I were you I would just go with a regular one, but if you got the money to spend, then go for it :)
