Error.

All computer hardware support

Error.

Postby Tank » Tue Dec 28, 2004 6:53 am

Hey everyone. As some of you know I am building my new gaming PC. I am just curious what the threshold for error is? Like what are mistakes that would lead to the PC not working or to it getting fried or something? I did put Gel on the core of the CPU, i know that lol. Thanks

Dont build your pc on a carpeted surface  . Although static buildup can’t be completely eliminated, there are precautions you can take to reduce the possibility of damaging components due to electrostatic discharge. You should always ground yourself to discharge any static buildup before touching anything inside your computer’s case. Antistatic mats and antistatic wrist straps work well.

or.. if you can't be bothered messing around with anti-static wriststraps.. do what I have done for the past 20 years of building PC's.. make sure your barebone case with the power supply installed is plugged into the mains.. (but not necessarily switched on).. then simply touch the metal chassis before handling any components.. this will earth you and safely remove any static buildup..

effectively does the same as an anti-static wriststrap.. but without the god awful yellow bracelet and coiled cable hampering your movements :)
