Bios Not Loading ????

Hi
I have just built a new computer from scratch
The problem is although nothing is installed on the new hard drive the bios is not loading up.
When I turn the PC on the lights on the monitor (just under the screen) come on so there is power going to it and also the CPU fan is turning and the system fan is turning too.

One thing I noticed is that there are no bleeps.
I tryed it without the graphics card and there was a long bleep which then stopped.
I took the motherboard out of the case (incase thier was a short)and placed it on a rubber mat and tryed it to no avail

Here are a list of the components which I kept plugged in to the MB on both occasions:

- The Power supply unit
- Graphics card with the monitor lead plugged into that
- CPU and CPU fan
- Keyboard
- Mouse
- The The small leads coming from the case (reset switch, Power switch etc)

Also I tryed a different power supply the one from my other computer which I know to be working and there was no difference again

I think it must either be
- A faulty graphics card which is brand new and never been used before or the monitor which is plugged into the graphics card is from my other PC and works. The monitor came with that PC whic is around 3 years old. As far as I know it is a 15" multi scan color monitor.

The spec for the new pc is as follows:

Gigabyte GA-7VA (k7 triton 400) M/b
80gb h.d.d
512mb DDR PC 2700
Palit Daytona geforce 4 mx440, 128mb,128 bit DDR tv-out DVI AGP8x (Graphics Card)

For the graphics card thier website is www.palit.com.tw

Can someone please help me ?????

Many thanks in advance

Ashy

Have you tried setting the jumpers to 2&3 (Clear CMOS) and remove the battery for an hour or so at the same time? Also unplug the PC from the outlet, as some have a standby mode. Have you tried a new battery?

If you follow brads suggestions and it still doesn't work, the only way to find out the faulty component is to swap them into another machine. If there are no BIOS beeps atall then it's probably either the CPU or the motherboard (or the PSU).

Ok

Sorry about the delay and many thanks for your responses

There are no Jumpers on the board (that I can see)

I reset the bios by taking the CMOS battery out for 10 minutes (as it said to do in the MB Manual)

Again to no avail

It seems that My Graphic card is causing a conflict

I got a loan of a friends card which is of PCI type and hooked this up now the bios is loading up (thank God)

But there is another problem now

I have tried to format the Hard Disk Drive (which is brand new)

Barracudda 80Gb

It gets to the creat primary dos partion and then the next screen where it verifies the percentage of drive integrity

This is where the problem is it gets to a certain percentage and then just goes back to zero it just keeps doing this

Can someone please help??

You're not having much luck are you :)

I don't know why it would do that, but the easiest way to find the route of the problem would be to give it to a mate & get them to try & format it. This would narrow the problem down to either your comp or the drive :)
