LG quality is questionable, i've seen alot of there cd burners bite the dust.Plextor has good reviews online but i dont know anyone that owns one.Sony makes a good burner according to a good friend of mine, i have a iomega burner, which is a bit outdated now, 4X single layer, but very reliable. After 2 years, the only coasters its burnt has been my fault.I would definatly look into sony and iomega.

you might just want to wait about 6 months before buying a dvd burner. There will be a new format offered by then.
I was ready to buy one until I found out that it could take 2 hours to burn a dvd. --I don't have that sort of down time on my computer.
This is just my personal opinion--so make your own call

Personally I would recommend the liteon.. you're getting a ony drive there without the sony price tag.. I have the SOHW8032 (8 speed Dual layer) and I haven't had a single problem with it...
In fact.. I've never had a problem with anything sony have had a hand in pc-wise.. but that's just me
