I wish I could help.. but I have never had ANY problems running ATI cards with VIA chipsets.. and believe me.. I have used plenty of both...
I'm currently running a 9800 pro AIW card on my KT4 Ultra motherboard.. can't say I had any problems with it.. simply install the via 4in1 and reboot before installing the ATI catalyst drivers..
Since the days of the 8MB RAGEII cards.. I have never encountered a single problem with via and ATI combos..
but then.. I have heard of people having problems with the gart driver.. which sometimes doesn't work as it should.. maybe that could be a starting point....

no problem Rob..
kestrel038@hotmail.com is my msn addy..
And you might want to try putting another video card in the machine.. boot up.. install the via 4 in 1 driver.. then put the ati back in.. boot up.. and when it starts to install a driver.. point it manually to the original driver CD...
if it automatically installs.. then use device manager to change the display driver back to VGA controller.. and then install the ATI driver from the CD.
