No power on HP Pavilion xt973

Postby tenacrebiz » Fri May 30, 2003 5:11 pm

my xt 973 will not power on, but the LED on the back panel of the power supply is on. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction, as to whether the power supply or the mother board is the problem?

:? Help

what color is the LED on the Power Supply.. if it is any other than green, that probably IS your problem. A lot of the major manufacturers put error LED's on their power supplies.

Did you try unplugging it for a good minute, then re-plugging. It takes a modern PSU 15 seconds to a minute to bleed down it's capacators

other than that just make sure your power switch is not broken.. there is likely a OEM (special) power switch, so I couldn't tell you how to short it without seeing it.
