Hey everyone. Anybody have any advice on how to keep CRT monitors in good condition? I had a 17'' Cicero, and not even 7 months later, it blows up and its life is over! Thats a pretty short life. So I went out and bought a new one. A nice, black and silver Hansol 17'', its not LCD, but it is a flat screen. I just want to know, how can I get the maximum life out of them? Thanks

regular cleaning :P i guess, and keep refresh rate on only what the monitor can support and not above, Rob.

From my experience, CRT monitors have small lifetimes. ummm.... maybe a good thing would be not to leave the monitor on past 5 or 10 mins.....after u power it off? lets see cuz the monitor is still running and it just doesnt last aslong. I bought an LCD 17" ViewSonic and its amazing .. they say that I shouldn't have a problem with it.

Just my 2 cents....and its not much as I dont know what goes on inside of a CRT

mmmmm...

Sounds to me like ya might have gotten a bad one to only last seven months...

I've been running my 21" for about three years, and my old little teeny tiny 15" on my old computer is still going strong, and it's close to 10 yrs old.

One big thing that ya don't want to do,In cold climates, don't power it up after it's been outside for a while... like in transporting it home.... I guess it can build up condensate, or it may effect the Vacume inside the CRT....

Good on ya, and congrats on the new Flatscreen.. those are nice..

My 17" monitor is almost 8 years now, and it's running really fine. All I do is when I go out I will switch the monitor off. And do not leave CRTs on while away.. because they hate non-animated pictures. I mean, that's why there's the thing called 'ScreenSaver', so it will have the picture moving not still.

Sorry for my explanation, hope you have understand
