Hi, I have a friend who wants to get broadband internet and have it wireless as they have cabling problems upstairs to where they used to have Dial Up

How would they go about having wireless broadband

Simply buy a wireless modem, install on the pc etc and subscribe to a broadband package like AOL or BT etc

Or will their be anything else

Whats the approx cost of broadband modems too?

Aside from this query, i have two pcs, one up and one down.
One has broadband net, the other upstairs has no net, is it easy to make upstairs pc internet too, wireless n cost

thanks

lee

Setting up a wireless network is simple.

First, get some sort of broadband. I am not a fan of AOL, but depending on where you live, I'm sure there is some DSL that will suit your needs.

Purchase a wireless router and a wireless network card. I am assuming you are UK. I helped a friend purchase one recently and it cost about £50. Im not sure how much the card will run you, but my guess is around 25 quid.

And for your second part, yes, it is easy. Wireless is the way to go. :)

If you are already connected to broadband, the only thing you need to buy is a wireless router for about $35. Then everyone within 1,000 feet can share that access point if they have a wireless network card ($15-$30). And by everyone, I mean about 252 other computers. If you had that many mooching bandwith, it would be real sloooow!! :|
