Hello i took my hardrive to my brothers yesterday to transfer some files and when removing the hdd from his pc i dropped it (stupid of me i know but accidents happen). well when i got home and put the hdd back in my pc i was moving some files from one partition to the other preparing for a format when it came up with an error message saying cyclic redundancy check and wouldnt let me move the files. I hvae no idea what this is im guessing its not good. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to fix it? I should point out that the windows poartition is also experiencing problems eg. running slow and wont let me open internet explorer. If anyone can help then please do. Thanx

You most likely have some bad sectors now, you can try to have windows fix them.

Go to my computer > right click on your C: drive, select properties > Tools tab >
Error checking section > “Check Now” button > put a check in both boxes
Automatically fix file system errors
Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors
Now click start and in the next window select yes and reboot you system
It will take a long time (hours) for this to finish depending on the size of the hard drive.

Once this gets fixed I would strongly suggest that you replace the hard drive.
It’s only a matter of time before it dies. :(
