Computer Frozen at User Log In Stage

Hi everyone,

I am writing on behalf of a 10yr old friend - hence the details of the problem are a bit sketchy!

However... she tells me that she has 2 user accounts on her PC, both with a password. However her PC is now telling her (suddenly? or why I don't know) that her password is wrong, and so when she switches on the PC (with Windows XP) all that happens is XP loads up and then her user screen comes up, prompts her password and then tells her it's wrong. She then can't use the PC further.

I could only suggest a System Restore... but she can't get into her PC to do this. Is it going to take an uninstall and reinstall of Windows XP itself?

I'm not a total newbie, but only "know what I know" as such! And I managed to crash my own PC within a week of having it through having 2 user accounts with different passwords, and then performing a "sharing violation", gulp! So I'm not her best ally.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them - the simpler the language the better please!

Many thanks

Well, i dont mean to insult anyone's intelligence but its always best to start with the simplest things first. Check the Caps Lock key.
