Monitor on the fritz???

OK, so on our primary computer, we run two monitors.... a 21" CRT, and an 18" LCD.

Recently the 21" CRT has been acting flaky. Too often anything that is suppose to be white has been turning a light blue. Sometimes this will flicker back and forth, sometimes it will stay white, and sometimes it will stay light blue.

I'm thinking that this is a sign that it is about to go....

Is there anything that I can check before writing this monitor off?

I've tried wiggling the cable around, but that doesn't seem to have any effect. I've tried taking a screen shot of the problem, but when the monitor is blue, the screen shot is white.

Also, is there anyway at all to determine how long it will last. Will it crap out or will it just keep acting this way till the end of time.....

Thanks again

Junior

PS Since I'll be in the market for a new monitor, where can some great deals be found.
We'll probably replace it with another 21" CRT since they are cheaper and we need the realastate.

Depending on the make of the monitor, they can last a good 5-10 years. I have had my 19" for over 5. I love it. It is a Viewsonic. I would hate to think about replacing it.

But a good sign that you are losing the monitor is the SS. If you do one and it looks normal on an another monitor, good chance is that you lost a monitor. :(

Sorry to say.

But good new is that Dell makes a mean flatscreen and they are running a special. :)
