I occasionaly dabble with PC upgrades/ builds and have a friends Patriot PC for repair.
He has just bought it 2nd hand from work, prior to being sold it was left unused for several months. I belive the PC is Patriot CY533, the mobo is not easy to identify as I can find no identifying marks or numbers on it and Patriot have gone bust!!!

Having got it home I found that it wouldn't boot the following message was onscreen:-

RPL - ROM - ERR : BADA ; RPL HALTED

I have seen this once before and it was just a matter of replacing the CMOS battery, I have tried this and am now able to boot into the BIOS setup but when I allow it to run past this point I get the same error codes.

Are any of you able to shed any light on this problem?

Thanks for all of you who have read this post.

I have now resolved the problem. The staff at work who wiped the hard drive prior to it being sold had actually removed the primary DOS partition.
I was able to boot with a floppy that had FDISK and CD rom support, that enabled me to create a new primary dos partition followed by a format. From there installing windows was a cinch.

BTW, this site is brilliant, the threads are both interesting and informative and I am very pleased to have joined. You can all teach me so much. Thanks again.
