PC crashes after post screen help?

Hi all,

got major problems, the problem started a day ago when i booted up, the PC hung for a few seconds and restarted, when it restarted it opened up in BIOS, however it asked me for a BIOS password, which i have never set???? so i left that and came out of it and tried to start windows, advanced options came up (because it crashed) and i chose start xp normally, after that option was selected it re-boots, and every other option is reboots on. I figured its most prob a hardware/driver conflict, so i took all DVD drive out just to see what happens, but no change. I finally managed to open windows but hammering the restart button into submisson and select start xp normally. I rolled xp back to a date when it was operational but this had no effect as well.

Any solutions are very welcome, im posting from the machine in question so i will get back to you straight away as i need this fixing.

regards

I would check all my connections;
Unplug each cable, ribbon cable and reconnect them
Remove each daughter card and reset them.

hi finally got online, the machine is dead, it will no longer go beyond the advanced options menu.
I have no "daughter" cards as my mobo is fairly well equipped apart from graphics card which is ok.

I may be wrong but i think it may be over heating, the fan sounds slightly different to me. Also when i got it to open windows it got to logon screen and just died, maybe the overheating proctection in bios?

Before i go out and buy a new fan can anyone suggest anything else i can do to troubleshoot this.

:mad: :mad:

I wouldn’t go out and buy a fan just yet.
You can check your temps in BIOS but as you stated you do not know the password.
So I think it’s time we get some system specs so we know how to reset the BIOS.

Make and model of computer
Motherboard name and model number if you know
Processor make and model number if you know
Amount and type of ram
