Future Ram upgrade question

Postby ffzion » Mon Jun 27, 2005 5:53 am

I'm wanting to upgrade my ram from 512 mb to 1gb of ram but have a few quesitons first.

I already know what type of ram i can use in my computer, i just want to know when upgrading my ram does it have to be the same type/speed/whatnot as the ram I already have in my computer or can it be different?

or am i just beter off spending the money on buying 1gb of ram rather than upgrading it from 512 to 1gb?

This depends. If your motherboard can only handle the speed RAM you have now, then it's obvious that you must buy just that speed RAM.

If it can handle faster RAM, I would just buy the 1GB of faster. If you put faster RAM in with the slower RAM, all your RAM would be reduced to the slower speed, so it would be a waste.

Hope this helps. :)
