Monitor a bit shakey/glitchy/jittery.....

Postby Jas0n » Sun Jul 10, 2005 5:17 am

Hey Guys,

Just recently, like 2 days ago my monitor started to become shakey/jittery/glitchy. Like when i turn it on or look at it, the screen does not stay still, there is little shakey movement with the screen.

My monitor is a LG Flatron F700B CRT.

Is there anything I need to do in order to fix this problem.

Thanks in advanced.

Did you check to see if the monitor cable was tightly connected? I never screw mine in, with all of the repair work i do, all the dog has to do is brush by the cables for my monitor and I get the same problems

Sadly, I can't blame everything on the Dog

Have you tried Degaussing the monitor?
Also how close are you speakers to the monitor?

Okay, degaussing....no idea what that is. :p sorry mate.
And my speakers, well they have been in the same spot ever since i had my comp. Both speakers are 4.5cms away from the monitor and the sub is 31cms away from the monitor.

Ok, I have found the degauss thing. Its has a menu on the monitor and i have the headings:
Degauss > ON
Recall > ON
Reset > ON
Purity > 50

So what do i need to do next?

Check the back of the monitor for a manufacture date, you have a 3 year warrenty on most monitors from that production date. It can be longer than that if you have the store receipt then its 3 years from that date.

You might also check your video card and monitor under advanced settings to see if you have installed the drivers for the monitor. Right click on a blank area of the desktop and select properties-->go to settings---click on advanced. Select the monitor tab and see if you see your monitors name or a generic. If the name is right, try a different refresh rate 70~85 and see if that helps

As for the degauss, get into the monitor menu and search around, there should be one selection to activated the degauss function. The screen will go screwy for a second and return to normal if it is activated, and it will make a noise
