Your going from a "crippled P4 (Celeron 2.4)" to a P4 2.8. Thats not a very big step up in processors.
The Celeron usually has half of the L2 cache of the P4 processor. This makes it cheaper and a little slower.
What you've done is comparable to going from a 60 watt light bulb to a 70 watt light bulb. The increased performance is not that noticable.
A bios update isn't going to do anything for speed that I can think of.
You might try a higher meg video card, that with the added l2 cache might make a difference that is noticable.

u bein serious? i mean ive heard alot but a p4 2.8 bein a weak processor aint 1 of them especially compared 2 a celeron which r known 2 be the worst processors ever lol on a real doom 3 requires a p4 1.5 364 megs of ram an a 64 meg graphics card so in theory a 2.8 should whoop ass i bought my pc on the basis of clock speed not knowin that celerons clock speed means shit coz its just a slow processor but on games that require power u may as well say every game these day it'll say p4 required not a celeron lol nah mean? youll be lucky if it doesnt im sure it aint my video card i mean it has the capabilities an the speed for doom 3 2 look good wot u need is core power ie the processor im sure its suttin like that some1 told me about having a dog system with a curse do u know what this means?

What I was refereing to about the dog with a curse, was in reference to forgetting to install the motherboard drivers when you install the operating system. If you don't install the motherboard drivers first thing after you install the operating system, your system can act very peculiar, being very slow is one item, add a virus program and It might choke and blue screen. It will "bite" you everytime you use it.
If you've installed the MB drivers and updated the video card drivers and are running directx 9, I'd guess that there is something wrong with the video card.
You might try going to Start-->Run and type in DXDIAG and see if there are any issues.
The P4 2.8 is what I am running. With motherboard, its selling for under $140--thats a pretty good bang for the buck.
