External Drive Not Recognized - Help?!?

Postby msiler » Mon Aug 01, 2005 3:32 am

I just bought a Rosewill RX30 external aluminum enclosure for my new Seagate 200GB HDD. I got it all hooked up and I thought ready to go but for some reason my computer is not recognizing the external drive...any ideas on how I might fix this?

The USB slot & cable work fine, the unit powers up (blue LED and I can hear the drive spin up), connections look to be solid, pins are not bent or missing, my OS is updated to W2K SP4...what am I missing?

Processor - AMD Athlon XP 2600+
BIOS - Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG
MOBO – ABIT / Series VA-10 / VA-11

It may be as simple as going in to your BIOS on start up and having it detected...

I'm shor on time right now, but if ya need more on how to do this, let us know...

Good on ya

It needed to be Jumpered as "MASTER".
Now it shows up in Device manager but not in Disk Management

I then ran Saegates Diskwizard to partition and format and all is up and running now.
