The new one isn't formatted. When I tested just that drive being hooked up I booted with my Windows XP Pro disk and was planning on going through the installationg process. I get to the point where all the pre-installation stuff is loaded and I crash with the same stop error.

The old hard drive has a full install of Win XP Pro on it from my old box. Most Google hits point me to the below link. It suggests to install an in-place upgarde of XP (repair installation) or partition the dirve but I can't make it through the Windows XP Pro disk boot without it crashin on me.

if you have not formated a drive it wont install. you need to format a new drive. and as for putting a old drive on your new comp it wont work because you have all your old drivers etc installed on it.

If i was you id format your new drive and install XP newly.
