Hey guys,
I just aquired a 3com access point free from a affiliate but for some reason i cannot get to the access point's configuration page. I downloaded the PDF on my model WL-306 and i have followed instructions on what to do if the access point cannot be detected using the 3com wireless infrastructure device manager as i do not have a 3com wireless card. I took the EA number as the instructions said and mine is E0 for the last two digits. It intructs then that whatever E0 = in a scientific calculator from Hex to dec my EA # (E0) = 0 .. therfore that is suppose to tell me that my access points ip address which is suggests can be entered into a brower in the url field would be 169.254.0.1 .... i cannot still cannot reach the access point and have the access point pulling power and the computer is directly connected to the access point by the suggested cable of ethernet. I tried both a ethernet and crossover when i connect the crossover the ethernet light on the access point shows connectivity. I tried this with both DHCP enabled and also with a static ip address and it states the computer must have the same subnet as the access point's ip address which im assuming is 255.255.255.0
if anyone can help me out i would greatly appriciate it .

I think the problem might be related to the HEX conversion. :|
I used to do the conversion and I got:

EO (not zero) in hex = 14 in decimal

E0 (zero) in hex = 224 in decimal

thank you i will give that a shot tonight. Maybe my stupid calc.exe is messed up or something , that should be able to convert it from decimal to hex when in scientific mode right?
Just a quick update. I did the same steps you did on my laptop and its comming out completly different with the same E0=224 conversion you provided. thanks ... im going to have to do a checkup on my desktop to make sure everything is ok as it relly did report 0 as E0's hex to decimal conversion
