Help Please! Need advice on Core 2 Duo & Motherboard opt

I am looking to replace my CPU with one of Intel's super-duper new Core 2 Duo processors and, consequently, the motherboard as well.

I would like some advice on how to balance where I spend the money. The items I am considering are:

Motherboard
MSI S775 Intel 975X ATx Audio Lan power Up Edition £122
ASRock Conroe XFire ESATA2 S775 Intel 945P ATX Audio Lan £58

CPU
E6300 £125
E6600 £220

For roughly the same money I could have either of the following combinations:
975X-based motherboard + E6300
945-based motherboard + E6600

I am not interested in overclocking and just want a good, solid setup that will perform well on normal duties (office products, video editing, digital photo manipulation, etc.). No game playing required.

Any views on which would be the sounder choice? Please don't say 975 + E6600 as I know that already!!!!!
