EL-Wire Inverter Whine fix?

Postby Obinice » Tue Sep 26, 2006 10:42 pm

As you probably know, EL-Wire inverters give off a high pitched whine. I love the wire and don't want to get rid of it, however I do want to somehow dampen out the noise without covering it up with stuff (bad air flow, bad bad idea).

Any suggestions folks? I'm 18 and have good hearing so it's quite an annoying sound lol.

You are talking about RF shielding that is something that should have been done at the inverter design level.
The main circuit board for the inverter should be a multi-layer design,
with the RF shielding done on the inner power and ground layers.
That is the only way to insure proper shielding of any RF device.

To try and adapt something aftermarket is a band aid at best and will cause the inverter temperature to rise.

Maybe a few layers of aluminum foil over the inverter with alternating hole design would help.
Be careful around any exposed connectors inverters are High Voltage
