Hello first off i'd like to say hello as i'm new here. secondly i thought i would ask you guys about an issue i'm stuck on. i have an older pc(3-4 years old) that i build and i just recently bought a new mobo and processor along with ram as well. i installed all the new hardware and proceeded to set everything up. on the first power up i got nothing. no beep codes or anything. i removed the ram and figured it should at least have a reason to beep at me now(according to the manual 4 short beeps with no ram) and i got nothing. so i assumed it was a doa board since it was a known issue with the board i bought. so i installed the old hardware thinking that a running pc is at least better than no pc and now its doing the same thing. from what i can tell everything that should be is getting power but i'm completely lost. anyone have any suggestions?

Hello calenatar and welcome.
do any of the fans power up or cd/dvd rom drives open?
If not then my first suggestion is to double check the header on the motherboard where you connect the power switch, reset switch etc. to the motherboard. Make sure you have the power switch on the right pins. Unhook or remove anything thats not required to power up, this would include cdrom, dial-up modem, network card, sound card, etc. All you need is board, cpu & fan, memory, hdd and video just to see if it powers up and displays anything.
Give us the results and we'll go from there.

yeah from what i can tell everything is getting power. the dvd drives open, the hard drive spins, all fans spin at what looks like a normal speed. just nothing happens. what I'm trying to figure out is why it isn't working. i mean i took apart a working system and put it back exactly like it was and its doing the same thing the board i put in to upgrade it was doing...nothing. i unhooked everything that wasn't necessary when it didn't work the first time. I'll double check the switch wiring and such to make sure everything is connected right.

humm..do you have a 4 pin power connection as shown in the pic? If this socket is on the board and not connected you'll get that result.
