Not Booting

Hey guys, it's been a while so first of all hope you're all doing well. :)

Now, here's the problem:

I turn on my computer, the fans start up, I can open the CD Drive, but nothing boots. There aren't any beeps or anything. The monitor stays black...well it doesn't even power up. It just says "No Signal" which is what it would say if you turned the monitor on but left the PC off. Also, the light on my optical mouse doesn't come on either. Another thing is there is a red light on something that connect to the motherboard at the back of the PC, which isn't normally on.

Now i'm pretty certain it's a problem with the motherboard (however i'm not an expert), but I don't know how to go about checking what's wrong. A friend suggested checking all the cables are in properly which I then did.

There was never a problem before this. It just happened all of a sudden. Well it happened once, but I just restarted and it was fine, but then the next time I started it up, this happened and keeps happening. It's an AGP motherboard made by MSI, I don't know if that helps.

Apologies for the lengthly post.

Take it easy :)

Good to see you back but sorry its with a problem. The first thing i usually recommend in these situations is to check the power supply. A weak power supply will stop a machine from booting. Remove power from the cd rom drive(s), hard drive(s) and even case fans just to see if it will boot. Of course if you have another power supply to test with that would be the better alternative.

Another thing you can do is remove the memory and attempt to power up to see if it generates a beep code.
