hello and welcome.
It is relativly simple.
I hope you have baught the correct grapphics card type, there are 2 types of graphics card, pcie & agp.

If you have the correct one, it is as simple as opening your case up and slotting it in.

here is a guide for agp

for pcie

so whichever your pc has, follow those :)

if you need help take a picture and show me. Once the card is installed, you connect your monitor to the card, and then you can download and install latest drivers.

if you have baught an agp card, and your pc is pcie you cannot install it, and vice versa.

i dont think i explained properly

at the moment nothing comes on the screen when the computer is running. the monitor says it is working and that i should check the pc and signal cable. ive tried my tv and nothing shows on it either.

the new graphics card is in the AGP slot but i cant install the driver because nothing shows on screen. you with me?

thanks

it sounds like the card may be faulty. You dont need a driver i dont think, it should run in the lowest resolution by default.

is your monitor cable plugged into your mobo graphics or the graphics card?

ive tried both, on the mobo and on the Gcard. the new Gcard is brand new.

ive tried the graphics card with my tv and still no luck.

what i did to get this problem was, i pulled the monitor cable out while the computer was running.

what else could have damaged?

+ the monitor and tv autmatically switch off after around 30 seconds

i dont think it will of affected your graphics card by the monitor cable coming out.
Are you sure the new card is installed correctly?

to be honest, im out of ideas, maybe wait and see if someone else has any ideas.

what reasons can you think of for the pc not sending signals to the monitor?
