Computer Upgrade.

Postby tabman » Tue Dec 30, 2003 4:59 am

Hey guys,
I'm new here so don't treat me like I don't know anything.

My desktop system specs at the moment are:

512 SDRAM
P4 1.5 Ghz
Radeon 9600pro 128mb

I recently got a notebook (Dell Inspiron 5100) with:

256 DDR RAM
P4 2.4 Ghz
Radeon 7500 32mb

And the notebook runs games (Mafia, Unreal Tournament 2003, BF1942) alot better. (But just doesn't look as good considering the 9600pro in my desktop) And I want my desktop to run games just as good. So i'm wondering if it is the CPU that needs upgrading. I was thinking that I could get the same CPU that is in my Notebook for my Desktop.

My budget is about AU$200 or less. Is this posible?

CPU upgrade would not hurt. To know if its possible, you'll need to list your motherboard model/type.

You may also want to look at drive speed, also optimizing your system should help.
