Im not trying to rain on your parade, please dont take it that way. You have a really tough choice between the two machines but i will point out my thoughts on both just to give you an idea of what your up against.

Neither of these machines have enough memory to run Windows Vista without being very sluggish. With a gig of ram, Vista will occupy half of it just at idle. If you choose either of these machines you will find yourself upgrading memory very soon.

You will also have a serious graphic problem right out of the box, neither of these machines will run newer games very well. You should go over the computer specs well to see if either has a 16x PCI-Express slot available as it would give you the option to upgrade your video tremendously. Most of the newer games require at least 256 megs of video so keep that in mind.

The X2 4000 AMD processor is superior to the E4300 core 2 duo by quite a bit.

You can visit our gaming lounge and look at my post about Crysis. My system specs are listed there and i have a really hard time running the game. Its an example of what to expect from future game releases and the demands that will be associated with them.

I hope some of this is useful to you.

Venney, who is also a moderator here, might come through here and lend a hand, he's on your side of the pond. Im in the US which makes browsing through UK sights slightly difficult. You have a pretty tight budget but i've seen him put some pretty impressive things together.
